Have you ever watched a YouTube video or read an article and wondered, “How did that YouTuber/author find out all of that information, and how do I know if what they are saying is true?” If so, you’re not alone, and I’m here to help. One of my favorite things in life is research. I’m truly not kidding. I’m fairly certain I’ve always been like this, especially when it comes to religions, cults, and secret societies. The trouble for me hasn’t ever been researching—it’s stopping the research. This was such a problem for me that when I was working toward my degree in seminary that I had to put in research deadlines for myself. For example, when I was working on a series about the Latter-day Saints, I permitted myself a certain number of hours to research, and then once I hit the limit, I had to start writing. All that to say, research probably should have been my middle name.
